I am looking for a table that I can set up temporarily in the cockpit when we have guests aboard and we we want to feed everyone. We usually use the cabin table for the rear of the cockpit and that give us quite a bit of extra room compared to using the little round table that normally goes back there. But I would also like to add another table up by the lounger and captain's chair as well. I have seen a number of portable folding tables in the West Marine catalog but before I buy something I thought I would ask to see if anyone had any recommendations.

Thanks.

Dave..
Not to side track on your post... But I'm considering upgrading my 24DA for 26DA.. I noticed you have the new design and compared to previous years, your model is much heavier (+/-1200lbs). Is the Mag 350 engine enough power? Is it equiped w/ A/C and a gen set? and do you trailer your boat?

Anyway, any feed back would be appreciated..

Regards,

Alex

Hi Alex.

I have the 2007 260 Sundancer with the 350 engine, A/C and generator. This is the entry level power plant for this boat, and for my needs it works OK, but for those that carry many adults, and/or want to go faster, and/or want to do watersports I would then consider a larger engine. People with the 496 love the speed.

You need to take your usage into account, and also look at the economy (fuel) of a smaller vs. larger engine.

If you're coming from a 240, you may want to look instead at a 280.

Dave... I had this on a previous boat and loved its portability.

If the link doesn't work, look for table in the Bass Pro web site. It's a roll up aluminum top.

I have also seen it in heavy duty canvas at Costco (including two chairs in the set).

These are also nice, but less portable and a lot more money: Arneson Designs (Google it). I had the Arneson legs (very portable) which I would use in the cockpit with my cabin table on a previous boat.

Dave,

I have done two things on our 280. One I replaced the cheezy litle 22" round table with a 22" x 34" grate table that I made, but you could probably find a suitable top from these places that sell butcher block furniture if woodworking isn't a hobby. The round table sits on top of a J tube, so all we have to do is loosen the table top clamp and rotate the top 90 degrees to get more deck space when the table is not being used.

The other thing I found was a removable boat table leg made by Garelick. West carries them. It is a plastic ring that is attached to the deck, and the bottom of the leg has two pins with lever retractors. The pins go into keyhole slots in the ring, and the levers pull the pins up tight against the ring locking the thing in place. I have used it all summer to mount our grill on the swim platform when we are anchored.

Google Kettler resin patio furniture and you will find all kinds of options for boat tables. They are high density, high quality, and heavy products that are UV and salt water proof. There is a good assortment of chairs as well. The finishes are first rate. I bought some a few years ago and they still look new. I get quite a few questions about where we got them. We bought them on the Internet.
