I'm looking for an experienced Cummins mechanic in the Tampa Bay area to remove the head on my Cummins 330 6BT diamond series.

Thanks,
Tim

Thanks Kevin,
I had Ron Jargo replace a raw water pump on one engine and an impeller on a raw water pump on my other engine. He did a good job but the total cost was over $1000. I thought that was too much.

timjet, have you priced raw water pumps lately? I just replaced 2 last month. $865.00 ea from depco pumps. I don't think price is out of line at all.

That sounds about right for the labor. I bought the SeaMax pumps from Ron and changed them myself. It is a lot of work including supporting the front of the engine and loosing the engine mount and moving it out of the way. The SeaMax pumps are made so you don't need to do that. Also how tight is access? I have good access on the port engine. Any less would have made it much more difficult(take longer/more labor). My two pumps were around $1400 or $1500 and I should have paid myself $1000 in labor. My dad also helped too but he gets free fishing trips. I called Ron several times for advise and he was very happy to take his time and talk to me for no charge. Ron also helped me with the after coolers which also got replaced due to previous owner not doing the correct maintenance. Ron is a good guy you can trust.

Perhaps I am wrong and the $1000 for labor is correct. I do agree Ron is a good guy and I've also talked to him about other issues w/o being charged.
