I don't know if this has been posted here before...but I think it's worth a look. I just cannot believe how deadly this event could have been, and how easily it could have been prevented.

What is wrong with a person's thinking? Drugs, alcohol, bravado, complacency? :wow:

And I don't know about the rest of you men out there. But I would not have risked my life trying to save that engine.

Thoughts from the peanut gallery?

While it was flopping around in the water I would have been swimming at Olympic speed away from it that's for sure. Once it hit the sand I would have probably shut it down too.

Two things
1) I would have expected an engine cutout attached to the drivers wrist
2) In Australia, I am positive all the surfboats are fitted with prop guards

All I can say is Africa, life's cheap, and safety isn't paramount

Let this be a lesson to all of us about using the saftey lanyard / kill switch.
And, another reason not to go to Africa on vacation.

As you can see those who are there to save us from harm can prove useless. Not that different here either.

Nice scenery on the beach though.
