Finished up polishing and waxing the black hull and getting the boat de-winterized. Still need to polish and wax the white top sides but love the way this thing still shines being that its 13 years old. Adding a new flat screen TV this year but otherwise all my other big ticket items were done last year. :smt038 Looking forward to the maiden voyage with good friends this weekend!

It's amazing when you take care of something, no matter how old it gets, it looks great. Nice work!! My Silverton was 18 years old and still had a showroom shine on her when we traded her in...probably why she only last 4 weeks at the dealer. Just curious, what products are you using?

Thanks fellas! I'm only fresh water and stored indoors during the winter and sometimes during the summer. I have an outdoor spot close to my house and indoor spot close to my favorite lake that I leave it at when I know we won't be boating near home for awhile.

Over the past 15 years I have probably spent thousands of dollars on polishes, compounds, waxes, buffers, pads etc. One of my previous boats was black as well so I was constantly looking for the best results from a polish and wax. Several years ago stumbled on Presta line of products and use them exclusively now. For this boat I can get away with just using the blue polishing liquid. If in worse shape I'd use their cutting creme. I then finish with a coat of Collinite 885 fleet wax. That stuff lasts longer than anything I've used. I'm of the opinion that the shine comes from the a correctly polished surface so I don't look for the wax to do much but protect.

Of course, the machine is probably just as important. If I need to use the cutting creme I use a rotary buffer with a wool pad. But for the polish I use a Flex dual action polisher with a foam pad. The Flex is an upgrade to the porter cable polishers because its a true dual action tool.

Hope that helps!

Looks great. I love Presta. Used the Presta Gel Coat and Presta Super Cut on my boat. Still working on it but looks and works great
