re-propping 94 290 DA

I'm helping a friend out, he's got a new to him 94 290 DA, with twin 4.3 litre mercruisers, alpha 1 drives, with 13-3/4 X 21 counter rotating props...the boat is a real dog getting up on plane, any suggestions on props that would help out? top speed is not an issue, but we'd like to be able to cruise at 22-27 mph, the main problem is getting on plane with full fuel, and his 5 person family on board...any help would be much appreciated,

4 blade props will definitely help. What is top rpm and are they in engine rpm range. You will have to drop pitch.
