Hi, all I have a 2002, 340 dancer with 6.2mpi's and a 5.0 gen. The boat is very stern heavy and I have a hard time getting it to plan. I have to run with the tabs all the way down and thats at apx.4000rpm and around 20-22mph. the boat has 17x19 three blade props. I has thinking of trying 4 blade 18.5x21 props.Any advice or ideas. any help would be appreciated.

The best measure of how well you are propped is to test your WOT (wide open throttle). Your props should bring you to the Mercruiser's spec. for WOT. Please tell us your WOT and maybe someone can give real advice.

I am not all that familiar with your engines, but as the previous poster inquired, it would be helpful to know your WOT rating and actual.

Any chance that loading some weight in the bow would be helpful? How about 100 feet or so of anchor chain for the bow anchor locker?

340 props

Ckeck the searay web site they have a prop guide for your boat and engine. I have a 05' 320 with 350 mag's and just this year got my props right. I'm running micigan dqx 4 blade 18x18 with a .75 cup for the hole shot and now the boat runs great. It's all in the props your boat usually comes withe 370 hp 8.2's so your props are your proplem.
