As the title states, I plan next week to re-do my boats lettering. I have had my canvas redone and am also redoing the pin-striping which is changing the color scheme of the boat. Today I ordered all new letters for the boat name, port and model numbers. Since I do have a great respect for the repercussion for not following the ceremony for renaming, it brought up a point of consideration to me. If I'm peeling off the name and re-doing it, is there any type of ceremony that should be followed or is that ONLY necessary if your changing the name itself? Thanks to the other superstitious boaters for your responses!!

I am not sure, but I wouldn't risk it.

Besides, why give up a perfectly good reason to have a party?!?!?!

I'm not renaming my boat but an changing the home port designation. I don't think a renaming ceremony is necessary if you are not renaming her. Home port is not the name... And changing stickers is not changing the name...

If you can say that the boat has the same name as when you bought her, it has not been renamed...the rest is semantics..

Plenty of other reasons to have a party :smt001..

My .02 cents...
