Really does look nice, John.

My canvas guy is out at my boat as we speak to begin my new 2006 340 Sundancer camper canvas! I can't wait (neither can our golden retriever with heavy coat)!

John - it looks really good. I like how you wrapped the poles in fabric - finishes it all off.

John,

Just left the dock and hour ago and he's about done with the framing!

Raining so hard you couldn't hear yourself think!

Thank you all. Others, good luck with your projects as well.

Looks like the same sort of wrapper I use on ours. Sunsox brand stuff. It's essentially a UV-resistant fleece wrapper, with velcro running down the seam. It helps keep the poles from getting hot in the sun and leaving a burn mark on the vinyl, or the rub marks from those 2" stand-off blocks. I used their gray colored material as it looks more like the bare poles when the side canvas panels aren't installed. Had a tough time finding a decent deal online for them a while back, ended up that West Marine had a bunch on clearance at their Rockville store.

Thank you Carter! I knew you would chime-in sometime!

Looking forward to seeing ya'll soon.

Much better lines. Guess it's about time to take it all down for the summer.

We actually leave it up all year. When we're on the boat in the Summer, we'll open up/take down a few select panels. When the bugs are bad, we'll put some screens up. Not too much different in the Winter, actually. We just end up opened up more in the Summer.

How hard is it to remove the camper canvas and does it come with zip in screens? Also can you raise the engine cover with it on? What is a good or average price for one?
Thanks,
George

It's moderately difficult to remove, and very difficult to store. Each panel needs to be separated out by a thin sheet to keep them from sticking to themselves or the next panel. We do not take down the top - ever. It is one piece. We do not have a way to store the support structure, or even to fold it up. It can always be dis-assembled in about 1/2 hour. We do unzip the front, center screen and swing it aft and snap it to the arch. We generally roll up each of the two side, entrance sections and snap them up against the top with the straps provided. We generally roll up the aft, port entranceway too. Lately, we've been rolling up the aft, center section to really open up the cockpit.

When the bugs are bad, we velcro in a separate front, center screen with the center window still swung up against the arch. We remove the 3 entrance panels and replace them with zip-in screens which we had made. The aft camper windows (all aft of the arch) are made from 30mm Strataglass. It has excellent durability, excellent optics, can be rolled, but is susceptible to chemicals like some sunscreens. It is pricey. Cost for back 1/2, about $4,000 complete.

All of the other front windows are pretty permanent. They have never been out in their 1.5 year life span. All of the front windows are made of Makrolon, an outstanding, hard plastic material that has excellent durabiliity, excellent optics, is somewhat flexible but can not be rolled up, and is kind of pricey. Front 1/2 - $3,500 - $4,000 complete.

Yes, you can raise the engine hatch. In order to allow this, I secured the structure 1/2 of the way out on the walk-around and angled it inward to match the arch. This gave room for the stbd engine hatch to lift. I do loosen the zipper joints in the back to keep from stressing the material when I raise the hatch.
