RE-bedding Front Cabin Windshield

I was told by my Sea Ray guy, that they do not glue or weld the ends. Take it for what it's worth. I did not glue the corners.

Yes, the Sundancer and the Sedan Bridge are two different windows. For mine, the screw cover gasket does not meet up or join with another screw cover gasket piece. It fits under the lip of the stainless lip for the window.

Hi, ANYONE

1) Did you welded the corners?
2) What do you use to insert the taylor made decorative gasket in the molding, soapy water, any lubricant or grease?

Chris, how did you "weld" the corners together?

Take a look at post #30. A factory install does have the corners welded / glued

I just saw your post that is not need to weld the corners.

My previous owner already fixed the leaking windshield , Sea Ray removed all the bottom part of the black seal, and they put new marine silicon all the way in the channel
I found some old silicon that needs to be fixed, I use a product specially made by 3M for weld windshield in Advance auto parts is expensive but is similar to the one used originally by SeaRay

Name: 3M Window-Weld Super Fast Urethane, Black, 10.5 fl oz Cartridge

Next week will install the gasket from Taylor Made

This is a great threat, lot of very helpful information here

In the Picture is the work made by P.O. With White silicon, they replace the entire bottom part of the entire windshield and went up like 4 to 6"

I measure it, the front windshield black gasket is 1", the side windows is only 3/4"
I went to Taylor made online, I did not find the 3/4" , so I am going to use the same for the front and side windows.
The ladies at the Taylor made online they don't know and they don't help, they just ask for the part number
You must know it before you call.

Thanks. My boat is actually a few years older than yours. I do need to find a solid material to take up space in that big channel. That 1/4" square channel is kinda big. Any ideas there? I was thinking just some rubber weatherstripping that I cut to size.

Also, I heard back from Taylor Made. They said go through a Sea Ray dealer to get any replacement parts. I think I am just going to go the caulk route.
I just received my new weather stripping from Taylor made systems. Wasn't that expensive. Included was the side window trim. Gonna just replace it all.

Knew I was saving this thread for a reason. We discovered a bunch of water between the vinyl trim and the windshield today. Disgusting. This thread will help us remove the trim and clean it and dry it out well. And to begin identifying if it’s a leak or condensation. Can’t believe there would be that much from condensation alone. Plus, it was localized to the starboard window.

Looking at the pics, my windshield looks like FeLiz’. Except my PO used black caulk. He tried to seal the trim piece. I don’t think he ever removed it to seal behind it. Here are a few pics:

We are going to do the hose test, to see if we can locate the specific areas leaking. But I’m thinking I have to pull off the old cosmetic gasket, find and seal any bad spots underneath, and put in new gasketing. Should I still seal that cosmetic gasket too?

Is this a job I can do in 50 degree weather? Or is it better left until spring? I will be wrapping the boat for the winter (although now for another month) so it will be protected.

Just ordered the trim from Taylor Made. P/N 8319400. It was $3.20 a foot and for 55' the total cost was $206.56. Ships in 5 business days.

By the way, Taylor Made doesn't make finding their phone number easy. It's the Windshield Division you want to contact. Their phone number is 518-773-0636.
