My searchlight on the very end of my bow pulpit has stopped working. I've read a number of threads on here with many good options in terms of repair/replacement. However, my question is how do I get this sucker off of the bow to work on it? It would seem that the best access is through the chain locker, however that doesn't get it either. This thing is on the bitter end. There are studs coming through the inside of the pulpit and acorn nuts fasten the light to the boat. My worry is once I remove the acorn nuts, the studs will fall loose into the pulpit and there is really no way to get to them. Then of course there is the replacing aspect. How do I refasten the light without being able to reach the backside to install the studs? Does anyone have any ideas? Are the studs permanently attached somehow? Sorry if this has been discussed or I'm missing something. Thanks all.

I'm pretty sure the light can be unscrewed from the base. You'll need a stubby or right angle driver.

Most issues occur with the slip-ring. Often it just needs cleaning. There is a full service manual online, It's been posted here. If you can't find it PM me and I'll email it!

It's not about removing the light, it's about how the base is attached to the bow and how to remove it... How are the studs affixed to the pulpit? Once I remove the nuts, will the studs fall loose into the pulpit where there is no access?

The instructions posted will allow you to remove the head from the base and thus repair/clean the head. You'll be able to test all the signals coming through the slip ring.

You may not have to worry about the base and pulpit issue.
