I know this is not a Sea Ray question, but this fishfinder was included with my '88 270 Dancer when I bought it and I figure there are a lot of smart, experienced people in this forum that may be able to help. The problem is that the unit seems to work sometimes and go crazy at others. The depth indication will suddenly flash and indicate depths of several values one after another. I'm in the western Lake Erie area (near the islands). I may be in 20 ft. of water and the depth indicates 80 or 90 ft. It will then jump down to 40 or 50 and may eventually start working again. I've checked the transducer for damage or obstructions and don't see anything obvious. I've also checked the cabling for cuts or scrapes, again none found. Is this likely a transduce problem or electronic issue? Thanks!!

Most likely a transducer gone bad.
