Raymarine RN 300 GPS question

this unit appears to be pretty basic. i'm not sure what info it is supposed to give me. i was told there is no software map overlays for the unit, however, the unit has a removable cover and it appears some kind of card can be installed.

anyone know whether overlay maps are available for this unit and how one can obtain one. not sure which one i'd need for arkansas!

It's ok. If I'm not following a route, I usually bring up the date & time screen so I have a big digital clock on the helm. Following a route, I usually display waypoint info (TTG and such). The GPS part of the unit isn't that great - I had some issues last year where it would take forever to aquire a lock. I'm probably going to add a Ray 125 GPS and set the RN300 up as a slave. There are a couple of threads on that here, you can find them using the search function.

thanks, i had almost bought i think it was a C70 chartploter. goes in the same spot as the gps, however, needed a new antenna as the rn 300 antenna isn't compatible with any other units.
i have a portable garmin 276c that works absolutely fine.
