Hey all!

I’ve noticed that the outter plastic shell of the open array radar bars are often a yellowish color over time, compared to the pure white fiberglass of the surrounding hardtop of Sea Rays (mine included). I’ve found the replacement Raymarine 15” red decal online for a fresh look, but is there a careful method of painting or white-washing the radar bar back to pure-white without interfering with the scanning integrity of the radar itself?

Thanks for any input!

I'd check with Raymarine to see if painting it would degrade the signal. If not, spray paint it with a can of plastic safe, high gloss white paint. I sprayed a white plastic hailer that had yelowed from UV exposure and it looked very good. The finish lasted for the years that I owned the boat. Used a commonly available spray paint called Krylon or something like that if memory serves. The scanner sensor can be removed quite easily so working on it should be straightforward.

I had mine sprayed with Imron and it looks great. My neighbor did the rattle can for plastic furniture and it didn’t turn out that well, but you can’t tell from the distance that the radar is from the closest viewpoint.

Also, don’t buy the Raymarine decals off eBay. Simply call Raymarine tech support and tell them you need replacements. They’ll send them to you for free. I got one for mine and one for my neighbor, and they arrived next day via FedEx. Free.
