Raymarine loosing position fix

I have to say I've been following this thread with great interest- my RS120 conked out list past Labor Day weekend right around the same timeframe with the dreaded NO FIX. Tried all the connections, powering off/on the battery switches, Raymarine Knowledge base searches, etc. It was acting flaky the last few times out and went out for good -all these older units must be giving up the ghost now. Anyway, I was able to locate a 'regular' RS125 online (BestBuy had 'em) for $299 - everywhere else had the RS125 Plus on backorder. Since my equiptment is circa 2001 and I don't need a unit with the 'SeaTalkng' protocol , I grabbed it - want to get a few more fishing trips in before we pull the boat.

For those of you interesting in replacing the raystar 120 unit with a raystar 125 you may be interested in this e-mail I received from Chuck Anderson of Raymarine.

The is not need to send this request to one of Raymarine's VPs. All one need do is send the failing Raystar 120 GPS Sensor to Raymarine's Product Repair Center (http://www.raymarine.com/Default.aspx?SITE=1&SECTION=3&PAGE=1412#CBM7557) to be serviced. Raymarine's Product Repair Center's current policy is to replace failing Raystar 120 GPS Sensor with a Raystar 125 Plus GPS Sensor for $225. Please note that the Raystar 125 Plus GPS Sensor is currently on backorder. Unfortunately, Raymarine policy prohibits Technical Support from addressing product/parts availability and pricing questions. Raymarine, Inc. does not have access to the inventories of its distributors and retailers. Questions concerning product/parts availability and pricing should be addressed to Raymarine's Parts Line (603.881.5200 x8865; orderdesk@raymarine.com) where the latest information may be obtained.

Chuck Anderson suggested not sending in your 120 unit until they receive the new units probably around the end of October.

Like I said Vinnie don't gots...pretty long thread over a $300 item!

I have a Garmin 440s an I loose my location fix. I installed a new remote antenna but it still happens once and a while...
