I decided to use an Apple Mac Mini as a media server on our 38DA & was exited to be able play movies etc on all monitors & to utilize the E120 for viewing, but after making all the connections I found the Raymarine unit was not responding to the video input. I called Raymarine & was informed that units built prior to 2007 (ours is an 06) do not have the ability to display video & in order to enable the feature the E120 would need to be sent back & modified. Even though it came with a cable specific for video input... a little disappointing.

Anyone had this mod done? Any possibility of remote software update (avoid two week wait & risk of shipping damage)? I'll call Raymarine to verify that return to them is my only option.

BTW, the cost is $90 + shipping

That's nuts...
RM built a unit with video inputs, but it doesn't display video?

Mine is an '07, but honestly as far as I knew ever since it's introduction the "E" series has always had video input- that was functional! How did RM explain video inputs, that don't work? I'm confoozed....

There's a lot of knowledge (including electronics techs) over on the THT electronics forum; you might want to post this Q over there...

Not true! I have dual E120's purchased in late 2005 or early 2006 (I can't remember exactly and I'm at the office so I don't have the records at my fingertips) and I have our KVH sat picture sent to my E 120's. Works just fine, no upgrade necessary, and as a matter of fact I'm thinking of adding a couple of video camera inputs.

I'm in agreement. I have a 2002 w/E120 and just hooked up a cctv camera without any mod and it works fine.
