Within a few minutes of being turned on and running, my E120 powers off. I checked the plugins and everything seems to be fine. It just started doing this at the end of the season. Any suggestions or help?? Thank you. ** PS-This one was not made in Mexico.

Does it power off completely or reboots? How frequent is this happening?

There are few things I would do:

1. Check all connections to the unit, especially power.
2. Make sure you get adequate voltage. Low voltage will make it go into shutdown state.
3. Make sure it doesn't overheat.
4. Make sure you have latest software version, if I recall 5.69 is the latest.
5. If all above checks out but doesn't solve the issue, I would do factory reset.
6. Call RM support for more ideas.

Check your power source for sure. I had the same thing happen to my Simrad NSS unit after I installed it. I connected it to a circuit breaker on the helm and thought it would be fine. It turned out to a bad source for 12v power (at least for the Simrad unit). I then connected it directly (with an inline fuse) to the battery and now it never shuts down. Problem solved.

Ok, I went down today and turned the e120 on. It fired up and stayed on for about 8 minutes, froze for 30 seconds, then shut down and rebooted itself. Ran for about 4 minutes, froze and shut down and rebooted. I checked all wires. This unit has been in the boat for a few years and is NOW acting up??? I will have to check the voltage, but it ran today with nothing else on except the battery charger. Boat is dry docked right now.

If you go to Raymarine's website, sign in and search for that problem. As I recall low voltage will do that to it as others have said.

The issue you're describing here is not shutdown, but rather freeze/reboot. RM claims that this was resolved in the latest software version 5.69. Check what version is loaded on your unit and if it's older one, then try applying the update. Perhaps it'll help. As I mentioned earlier, if software upgrade won't help, then your next step would be performing reset to factory settings.

Thanks for the help Alex F & Mike Blake. I do need to do a "upgrade" and a possible reset. I will try this this weekend coming up. I will keep you guys posted. Wellswa, thanks for the input also.

Don't forget to backup your routes, tracks and waypoints. Reset to factory settings will delete everything. When you're done with reset, you'll need to reload them back from CF card on to the unit.

Thank you Alex F.,Mike Blake & Wellswa. I will try the latest download. If nothing I will do a factory reset after I search their website.

Doing that software update is easy even for a computer challenged person like me!!! LOL I even did the DSM 300!!
