I am new to my boat and Raymarine. Have a little experience with some Garmin stuff and had a question. When I put a LAT/LONG on the C70 will it navigate there using a safe route or is it just showing me a point on the screen and it's up to me to find the safe route? If the latter, is there any way to make it actually build a safe route? I know I could do this on a little Garmin I used to use. Thanks for any help.

The chartplotter only knows a straight line between you, and where you tell it you want to go. It has no way of knowing if your living room is between the two points.

Good to know. Any suggestions for maybe upgrading to something with this feature or something I can add on? I would just like to have something that helps me navigate. I know I nedd to be alert and know whats going on but it doesn't hurt to have a little back up.

Don't. Plot the route manually first. Create the route via waypoints so you know where you're going and the hazards along the way. GPS units don't have this for a reason.

The Garmin I used to use had this feature and it was pretty nice. Not saying it's fool proof just like an extra set of eyes.
