i have c80,dsm300,radar, ray125. the GPS is hooked threw seatalk does it work better if hooked nmea? :smt017

Your Raymarine unit can display engine data with the latest update, but not from Smartcraft :smt009 . Mercury keeps their smartcraft proprietary. The rest of the industry uses NMEA2000 which is what your Raymarine unit can read. About the only in integration you can do is to hook up your Raymarine unit to your smartcraft via nmea to compute MPG on your smartcraft system.

Your Raymarine unit can hoo up to your GPS via Seatalk or NMEA. There is no performance gained one way or another so if it is working fine leave it alone.

I had my SystemView 5000 flashed to the latest version of the Software over last winter. When I launched the boat in the spring, all of the data from my RayMarine RL70CRC was wrong. When I spoke with a tech at Mercury, he told me that Raymarine does not follow NMEA standards exactly. I had the SmartCraft flashed to the previous version of the software and it works fine. I have the NMEA output of my chartploter connected to the SmartCraft and my RayMarine 230 VHF radio.
