My raymarine a98 touchscreen has gone out. Updated unit software and even updated navionics chip but still will just freeze up and not get passed the “ok” screen.

I have raymarine autopilot and radar so I figured it’s best to just stick with raymarine.

any suggestions on what to replace it with? New or used ? Would like it to hook into my raymarine radar and autopilot without problems.
Can’t find a used a98 anywhere.

Thanks in advance

just got both an a78 and an a125 on eBay so they do show up occasionally.

That being said, axiom will replace your a98 and likely pick up the autopilot without issue. The radar is what might pose a problem because of the newer technology. What model AP and Radar do you have? That’s where you should start

edit: one on eBay from the Uk right now.

Can you fit a larger unit? The a, e and c Series are all the same general "family" running LHII and should allow using your current radar...I know a128's are available if you can fit it --> https://www.raymarine.com/store/aseries/index.html. I had one and it was a great MFD. Look for a e97 (similar to the a98, but is a little wider and has hard buttons on the right hand side. Unfortunately, they are no longer updating LHII, so this stuff is obsolete and you can get a new 9" Axiom+ for less.

If you move to the Axiom, you'll have to update to a new radar as they move from analog to digital.

I bit the bullet and upgraded when things were on sale/had rebates. Still expensive...

yes I could fit a larger unit no problem. thanks!!!

without going to boat here is a pic of radar. does the "digital" emblem mean it may be a newer unit? I purchased this boat 2 years ago and it came with Radar and autopilot. I honestly don't use it much in the lake. well i never use autopilot unless i'm just playing LOL

I was assuming you had an older Pathfinder radar, but you should be able to use Axiom with that Radar. The 9” Axiom+ is super bright and great resolution.

Then the issue becomes integrating with your current Autopilot, depth transducer, and anything else. This usually is accomplished with an adapter cable or small network device.

If you don’t have an evolution autopilot, the AP will still work and you have access to most functions, it’s just not as user friendly.

Also, I would plan to add an RS150 GPS. Getting the GPS up on the arch makes a world of difference.
