the boat I purchased came w raymarine a98 MFD with radar and autopilot. However I just found out that the a98 doesn’t have any in Hull transducers. The a97 does!!! Crazy. Never used raymarine before but liking my old garmin 740s more now.

I just need depth. My smartcraft transducer went bad (like they always do) so now I guess I’m forced to replace it. I’m gonna try and do this with the plug. Anyone had success with this?

My marina won’t replace it without pulling boat for $400 and I know some people replace these in the water.

Ok thanks for listening to me ramble. Lol

Not sure about the plug but is your bottom solid glass? I think there is a flush mount transducer that can shoot through the glass when bed properly. Doesn’t require drilling in that case.

Wish I could find something to hook to my raymarine a98. I spoke with BOE marine and they said they had the transducer to work. Sent it and today marina tried to install but cable wouldn’t connect to a98. So I’m out $400 for install and BOE responded “oh I don’t know who from our company told you that transducer would work but it doesn’t. You can send it back and we’ll credit you for another transducer if we can find one ”.

Thanks BOE. I still have to pay installers

I also have a bad smartcraft transducer, and call me a "gutless wonder", but there is no way I would replace this while the boat is in the water (neither will my mechanic). I may have access to a 20,000lb trailer, and assume my F250 can pull it out for the 30 minutes (or less) to replace. We'll see.
