GPS works fine, question is why does it read NOT FOLLOWING Across the top of the screen while underway
i put in my route ,find my ship on the screenm and get underway following my route, but that NOT FOLLOWING
i don't get….Cant find anything in the manual, and if i did what would it be under? navigation i tried...

Not Following on my C80 usually comes up when the route that was being followed ends. If you select "follow route", does it still say Not Following?

Yes, as I'm underway following physically it says NOT FOLLOWING…..but it still gets me where I'm going and back again on each route,

Maybe not following is NOT having my radar scanner on screen showing:huh:???

Now that I'm thinking about it, i think your right….after selecting the route i want, i went right to OK button, without pushing FOLLOW ROUTE BUTTON….
that way i can still follow route but screen is showing not following….HOW??

BOTTOM LINE Still gets me to where i want to go

Bll

You might want to reach out to Ray Marine for this. Their customer service is pretty good.

Thanks……already did, and that is what happened…I missed pushing the follow route button

I remember a mundane message when you are focused on something on the chart with the cursor, and the boat position is no longer the focal point of the screen. In other words, the screen would stay focus on what the cursor is over while the boat icon would merrily disappear off the screen, requiring you to "find ship" to get back to tracking the boat's position.

Is it possible that this is occurring?

NO…i never lost find ship….i realize now i neglected hit to follow route tab after selecting the route i selected and instead went straight to OK button, i still was able to follow the course even thought follow route was not pressed…...

Not sure what else would have happened differently if i did push follow route button.

Thanks…..

I don't follow routes very often. I do use waypoints all the time. If I have not selected a waypoint to "goto", I always have the "Not Following" message on my E80 and E120. Just a thought.

Additional and valuable information is available when following a route.
In order of importance:
- compass heading to steer to next waypoint
- distance to next waypoint
- time to go to next waypoint based on current speed
- deviation from direct track (cross track error) and direction to steer to regain track
- waypoint arrival alarm
