I had an intermittent problem last fall with receiving on all channels. This spring there is no reception, but according to the Corps the transmission is fine. Any ideas on some quick troubleshooting?

I assume you are talking about your VHF radio. If you can transmit but not hear any responses I would rule out an antenna issue. Adjust the squelch and see if you get a lot of static. Check that volume is turned all the way up (loud) my guess is the speaker is bad in the radio. But I would double check before condemning. Can you supply manufacturer info and model for the VHF?

Give Ray Marine a call they may be able to help you

Thanks for the replies. It's a Raymarine Ray240. I should have realized the potential lack of clarity of the "Ray 240" on a Sea Ray forum! LOL

It was the remote speaker. I was afraid it was something more with the intermittent failure last fall.

Glad to hear you have the problem resolved.

I have a remote speaker that gave up also. They don't make them anymore. What luck HUH?

I have a complete RayMarine 240 VHF unit that I removed. Works great, but replaced with Garmin 300. Did not have a remote speaker, just the unit speaker. Removed from 2010 280.
