hi all. Is fresh water cooled a real advantage in salt water? Does this mean longer life on the riser/manifolds? Looking at 280 sundancers and one has fresh cooled.. is the extra cost worth it
Thanks in advance

Most system are really half systems. So saltwater still goes through the manifolds. Regarding engine life, yes, the block will remain fine indefinitely since it only has antifreeze. The external components like the fuel module, power steering cooler, oil cooler, manifolds, etc do not see any gains in life expectancy. However, they are more readily changed out.

A friend has a 370 that is raw water cooled and been for sale for 2 years. The boat is immaculate and the price is right. It was a fresh water boat when he bought the boat several years ago and he flushes the engines every time he uses it. No one wants the boat because of the raw water cooled engines.
