I've noticed since we've owned our 320 that there is a rattle that seems to be very pronounced as we get to the 4000 rpm range. I generally cruise around 3700-3800. I've dismissed it at first as I thought it was the ER hatch but I'm not sure. On our trip home last week the Admiral had the controls which gave me time to relax and of course that lasted all of 2 mins. My ocd kicked in and I started inspecting the boat while underway. I put my ear to the aft port side and it seems the sound is more pronounced there. Has anyone encounter this on the 320? Checking in the ER back at the dock I don't see anything loose that would cause his rattle/vibration.

the doors on the storage compartments in the cockpit on my 340 were rattling when running higher engine rpm's.....easily fixed with some foam weather striping from Home Depot......

I had a similar issue. Check the exhaust hoses. They may be hitting the hatch/floor when closed. They can be adjusted by loosening them and turning them. Also check the small 3 inch hoses wire tied to the large hose. You may be able to shift them around or add additional wire ties. This issue was common for me when I had 3 blade props. However after switching to 4 blades, the vibration causing the hoses to hit the floor is gone.. Not suggesting that you change your props. Just sharing my experience. Good luck.

Sounds crazy but that freaks me out to run at 4000 rpm with hatch open but I haven't ruled it out.
Running it with the hatch open will probably give you more of a clue.

all you would have to do is open the engine hatch a couple inches....if you don't have an electric hatch lift you could just prop the hatch open with something.....

i had a very similar issue. Turned out to be the plastic engine covers over the flame arrestor. Both were vibrating and hitting the top of the IAC.

Had a rattle at high rpm also. Ended up being the walk in door by the swim platform (port side, hmmm) added the little rubber bumpers and went away.

Ditto - I found the same problem and did the same fix

Thanks all. Will check each area next time we're out to see if I can narrow it down.
