Have you ever been bored maneuvering the channel waiting for a bridge to open?
We were somewhere in NC, reached a bridge that we had to wait for.
20-30 miles back, a Sea Ray Fly Bridge passed us. We picked up the pace and fell in behind for the next 20+ miles. Both of us was trying to make a bridge opening - but missed it by a few minutes.
During the wait, got a radio call from the SR. We went to 68 and started talking. Turns out - someone from this forum. @trebbel. Wow what an experience. Knew a lot of same people - traded some Captain Rusty stories.
Finally the bridge opened and we proceeded. We were staying the night at Atlantic Yacht Basin, he was continuing on to Norfolk. Couple of miles up when we got to our marina for the night, he pulled in to get fuel and we had a chance to meet in person.
What a small world.
You never know how far this forum reaches.
