ram mount for garmin 540 - are they solid/secure?

I have 2010 185 sport.
Almost no room on the dash to mount gpsmap 540s.

A ram mount looks like it would provide more options, but are they solid/secure enough to hold the 540 with a small sport boat ?

I had a phone mount in my car and it was FLIMSY- and that's not what I want for my GPS.

Any specific recommendations?

I use Ram mounts for my TV. Granted its not mounted while underway, but I am very happy with the products.

I had a Ram Mount for my 540S in my previous Sundeck. It attached to the windshield support. It never moved.

I now have a Ram Mount for my C80, which is heavy, and it holds it in place just fine.

I have a ram mount for my 530s mounted to the window support of my 210. The mount it self does not move, however my window support twists. I have taken it off several times and tightened the screws to no avail. So if your support does not move it is a great place to mount it.
