I have a 1999 40 DA and get a lot of rain water in my cockpit port side carpeted storage locker (the one just aft of the ice maker). When I stick my head in the locker and look upward, I see the water coming in from the area where my arch bolts on. So I'm guessing the rain is getting in from the caulk wearing away? Has anyone ever had leakage that they traced from where the arch bolts on to the boat? The caulk doesn't look to be that bad and I'm guessing it's a major pain to try to removed what's there and recaulk?

I thought about putting a bucket up into the cavity and plumbing it to the drain hose of the cockpit sink, but this is a half ass way to fix it. Would be nice to prevent the water getting in all together.

It could be something mounted ON the arch that is leaking (water leaking into the inside of the arch), as well. Figure out where it's leaking, first. Spray the arch/deck connection with water and see if it leaks. If nothing, start spraying at the next higher thing. Work your way up. You can remove old caulk from with a new razor blade - cutting in a "V-groove" pattern, then come back and slice some more of the old stuff off. You don't have to get it all. Any bolt-on accessory... you can remove the accessory. Overall, not that bad of a job - it's at the easy end of the "scale" :)

I see this is an old post, but I just came across it. Were you able to find the source of the water? I was in the engine room this summer during a torrential rain and it was pouring on top of my battery boxes from the arch mount area. (portside)
I pulled all the caulk from where my windshield meets the cabin and arch and re-caulked, even though it looked ok. There is not anything mounted on my arch that would allow water to intrude that much. Since I re-caulked the windshield, my battery boxes have not accumulated any water, but I am not sure if it's completely fixed or not.

My 370 used to have water coming out of the arch lights after a good rain. Not sure how it got in as the radar, gps and other antennas seemed to be well sealed.

K-DUB, I'm in Michigan so the boat is still on land. Have not fixed the leak. Will post if and when I figure it out.
Thanks!
