I'm a mechanical kind of guy and not the best at electronics unless it can be done with a simple voltmeter...

Two Questions:

The stereo has two sets of speakers. When one pair quits all of the sudden, that would have to be the radio right? I mean both wires and speakers won't stop at the same time. Th other set works fine.

The VHF works but I recently found out that I can't send. Whats the chances that a new cord and mic will solve that? Or is it a crap shoot whether its that or the radio itself?

Thanks,

I put this in the wrong forum, sorry. I'll move it to "Electronics".

1. Unless you have an external amp then it sure sounds like a radio problem. Is it always the same pair? If so, you could swap wires on the front/rear and see if the problem moves. If so - definitely radio.

2. Very much a crap shoot. I suspect that replacement mic/cable could end up costing close to half what a new VHF costs. Maybe you can borrow a mic from someone who has same radio for test? This could just as likely be a transmitter problem and could even be antenna and/or antenna cable related.
