can anyone tell me why my stereo wont power on , It had display when boat was surveyed , i've checked the breaker in engine compartment , turned the stereo breaker on control panel to on ,and pushed/held power button on head unit down , i have no power or display on head unit , its driving me crazy , any suggestions on how to turn the damn thing on ?

yes a have the puck on the helm , no display there either
there is a master power on/off on the key pad to your right on the helm. It has a picture that looks like a speaker. Hard to see here but is the one on the top right corner

many times GPS units are wired directly to the battery to reduce electrical interference from other systems on the boat.....this could be the reason....

so no other wat to turn it off from the unit? doesnt this drain the batteries by leaving it on all on the time ?

yes.....but while you are on shore power and you accidentally leave the GPS on the battery charger will keep the batteries charged....the GPS does not take a lot of power to operate....you should be able to power it on and off from the buttons on the GPS....on mine I have to hold the power button down a few seconds before it will shut off....

Ive tried holding down the power button on the unit , does not power down at all

that doesn't sound right......if this is not the original GPS maybe the PO wired it incorrectly when he installed it.....sorry I can't help more....
