If I put up a stainless steel 1" post to mount my cell phone antena above the radar dome on the radar ark will it effect the radar single. IE will the steel post be picked up as a solid object on the screen and give me a large object on the screen?

I would say you will probably be ok ok doing this. Just about about every boat with radar has this issue since they are required to have the mast light at the highest point, so the pole from that is in the 'beam'. On my boat there is a satellite dish in front of the radar array, now that causes false echos. I would keep the antenna to the rear or side of the radar array however, and make the junction from the pole to antenna above the beam.

Anything within a foot to a few feet should not make any difference. Your beam has not had time to properly form at that close of range. Something that small and close to your dome is not even seen.

Greg, What type of dish do u have? When I installed tracvision last year the directions were specific about not mounting the sat. dish within several feet on the same plane as the radar as the radar beam can damage the electronics.

Sea Ray didn't read the manual when they installed the KVH on the 480DB... The radar worked great for every direction except for directly in front of the boat.
