image.jpgI purchased a few weeks ago the Raymarine A128 and the Quantum radar dome and planning the install soon. I currently have the original 48" open array. With the base of the open 48" its just over the canvas. Looks like if I mount the dome on the same base it would not be completely over the canvas and I would imangine would be problematic. I think I will need to get a extension to get the dome a little higher over the canvas, didn't realize at the time SeaRay used two different sizes mounts. Has anyone else made this conversion and could direct me on what you used?

Ray, I can't help you with the mount, but don't forget to add a shim in there to get the radar to point down in an angle equal to the boat's running attitude when you are on plane. If your bow runs 10 degrees high (for example) when you're on plane if you don't shim it the radar signal will be 10 degrees off the water and you won't see much.

Going through this myself - conversion from likely the same array you have to a dome. There's a guy on e-bay that makes mounts and can make the bolt pattern match what you have currently on your mast. I had a Raytheon 4kW 48" open array - I measured the bolt pattern don't have it here in front of me but can get it to you when I get home. He sells all different heights and charges $20 extra for custom bolt pattern. WELL WORTH IT!! Not sure how many inches more you need. I'm probably going with the 3" but he sells an bunch of different heights.

Here's the link to the ebay guy.

Thanks GFC I have been trying to figure out if I need to add more angle on top of the angle I already have. Rondds thanks for the link I will try to reach out to those guys and see if they can offer anymore advice.

You could also get in touch with the folks at Battlewagon. He does do custom work and the mounts are very well built.

Thats a a very nice looking boat!

Ive been in touch with the ebay seller a few times for details. They will customize the forward tilt from 0 - 6*, the mounts are predrilled for your prescribed dome and, if you want, your prescribed bolt pattern for mounting to arch/mast. I've priced others and they're typically twice the cost b/c you have to buy the mount and a separate mounting plate which fits your dome/array. And you're stuck with the bottom bolt pattern that it comes with, which is fine for a new install - but if you're replacing, it saves you the possibility of having to fill in the existing holes and drill new ones.

They are very responsive and have answered all my questions within an hour.

NO, I have no financial interest in this seller!

Haven't ordered yet b/c I figure I'd give loved ones a Christmas gift idea (us old guys are very hard to shop for)!
