have a friend who just purchased a raytheon used 95 or 96(yr) unit and asked if shortening cable would effect the performance of the unit (sorry but he is a bayliner driver:smt021)

the model is a r10 x. has a 49' cable and he would like to shorten to about 5-7' but is worried about altering performance

look, i know he owns a bayliner but someone must have at least an oppinion:smt043...we have different ideas as to the effect

There are many electronics that are very sensitive to cable integrity like Sirius antenna and radars. I would suggest to google to find a shorter cable and not cut the one.

Thanks john, It just does not seem ok to tuck 49' of cable on a 25' boat for radar:huh: maybe going to the manufacture to order a shorter cable may be the answer for him. Not to mention buy a sea ray:grin:
