Those things are pretty small, and I was wondering if any of you have had any luck picking them up on radar?

We don't have crab pots here, but my radar picks up lobster pots maybe 30% of the time. I don't know for sure, but given the amount of fog we have, I would not be surprised if some were built to reflect a radar signal.

It all has to do with the radar unit itself and how you have the gain and filters adjusted. I can paint a pelican at 3 miles with my radar, but I give up identifying much of anything past that due to clutter on the screen.

I've got a 64 mile Furuno with a 4ft open array.

In my experience (w/just a 2kw dome) it does paint them sometimes but not reliably enough to count on it.
Sea clutter shows up as faint "in and out" returns, too as Frank said.

I can't pick them up reliably on my radar but I can tell you I've experienced wrapping a lobster pot leader line around my prop that cost me a $600 short haul....stay clear.

don't have crab or lobster post, but my boradband radar will pick up ducks and geese easily.

I pick up geese on the water at night.....gets kind of spooky when there's no moon to get a visual.
