Does anybody know what the difference is between the different lubricants / greases that Quicksilver sells? I'm looking for actual knowledge on the difference, not just "I use generic marine grease", or "they want you to buy their product", etc. Also, I can read the titles so I can guess that 2-4-C has teflon and that Gimbal bearing grease was designed for Gimbal bearings.
I was looking for more technical information such as... one is rated for higher temperatures, or this one contains graphites for higher load weights, etc.
Below are the lubricants and Mercruisers description from http://www.mercurypartsexpress.com/us/lubricants-c62.html
I'd like to understand the differences and is there one or two that would suit all applications? As you can see, some of the descriptions are the same and the manual often says you can several different types. I don't know of any other applications that needs so many different types of greases.

- 2-4-C Lubricant with Teflon A high quality multi-purpose lubricant to withstand extreme friction and also providing added water resistance. Can NOT be used on needle bearings or other internal engine parts
- Special 101 Lubricant A high quality multi-purpose lubricant to withstand extreme friction and also providing added water resistance. Can NOT be used on needle bearings or other internal engine parts.
- Engine Coupler Spine Grease For use on all MerCruiser sterndrive applications
- U-Joint & Gimbal Bearing Grease For MerCruiser sterndrive applications
- Anti-Corrosion Grease Not for use on ball, roller, or needle bearings
