Quick Silver Generator Problems

original pump is labeled "ac-delco' part# ep-89 But please note...When I received the new pump it had the same wire connector and the same colors of wire(black and white) but the colors where reversed in relation to the connector only being able to be plugged in one way. It was easy fix moving the wires in the connector.

My money is on the pump based on the direct 12volt test and the disconnected fuel line. You can feel a slight vibration in the pump when it is running.

John and Everyone else who responded.
Finally got around to changing out the fuel pump today.
Because of high fuel prices, we have been limited to short trips to the beach.
But with onslaught of much warmer air and water temps I decided it was time.

Removed AC Delco EP-89 pump and went to Auto Zone
Got a replacement, but had to add some brass fittings to go from 1/8" to 3/8" fittings.

Took a few minutes of running the starter to fill bowl and get gas to carbs, but.....
it is now up and running.

Thanks for all the help

Total cost of replacement:

Auto Zone Fuel Pump..... $60.55
Menards Brass Fittings....$8.78

Admiral being able to have blender and
HDTV to watch her beloved Cubs on the hook at the beach..........PRICELESS!!!!!

I have to thank everyone here as well. My 6.5 QS died July 4th. After some diagnosis determined fuel pump. I contacted Generac and almost choked when they told me $395.00 for new. (I wonder how many they actually sell) Anyway, yesterday I bought a pump from NAPA for $70 including tax.

that is truly incredible! and good to know (shawn, you and i have the same genny).

Ron,

I assume yours is mounted behind your engines. Ours is mounted in front of the port engine under a hatch and behind a panel in the mid cabin. That is where you have to go to change oil, RR the fuel pump, etc. It has 360 hours on it and has always run perfectly when needed. I was almost stunned when it quit. But I learned a lot about it and because it is such a pain to change the oil on it I swiched to synthetic as you go longer between changes.

All is now well and we are ready for Labor Day.

mine IS in the cockpit under the hatch. it is the easiest thing to get to in this boat. it has less than 200 hours. obviously we dont use it that much and i very rarely run with the genny on.

I'm having the same issue...... generator will start approx 30-45 seconds and shut off. I replaced fuel pump with new one --- still no luck. Also tried pulling wire #85 ...still won't stay running. What else do I try? Any help would be great.
