I'm having Loadmaster build a new tri-axle trailer for my 280DA and one of the options is for sling pockets. I plan to float on/off but I'm wondering if I should have the pockets put in for the eventual "what-if"? They're an additional $150.00. My only concern is the extra edges and additional possible break down points fro the carpet and bunks. Any thoughts??

I think if you're having it made, get them. You never know when you want to sling in and the marina says "no bunk trailers". They'll do it if the sling slots are there. Also, ask Loadmaster about the slick bunk runners.
My King Trailer has what they call "Glide King" bunks and I love them. They're very slick and make an easy launch and retrieval.
Look at this link for those options and ideas

Dan, are you planning to keep the boat on the trailer and float off/on every weekend or at the beginning and end of season? I have the same boat and trailer...thought about floating off/on once a season and decided against it once I looked at the ramps in our area. No way would that work for me...

Re the strap pockets, I would check with the marina you would plan on using to get it off the trailer. Some would use a lift even if there were strap pockets on the trailer. My dealer would use the fork lift regardless of the trailer config, for example. Also, plan on having to replace the wood and carpet eventually. From my experience, 5 years on the bunks is alot...and mine never goes in the water...so they will need to be replaced. I think I would use the $150 elsewhere if I were you.

I have valet in/out at my marina and a wet slip. I like to keep a clean boat so I'll pull it every week or two to clean especially since it's not my vehicle doing the work. I'll also tow to a lake once or twice each year. I'm not worried about the bunks, I've replaced and re-carpeted on my prevoius trailers not a big deal.... I was just thinking that since it was a new build it may come in handy just incase I'm ever in the situation that I may need them and at less than 3% of the total, why not

Yes I would have them put in, and ask Gary to have extra bunkers at the nose put in like Robert Chapman's trailer.... they added extra bunkers so the nose is giuded straight in and on the trailer... Loadmaster biult my trailer and as a matter of fact your trailer will have Our nuts and Bolts on it, go with all stainless steel bolts and Nuts....It's the best. Is it a Ball hitch trailer or fifth wheel? Mines a Fifth Wheel and we love it for our 320. You will like their trailers, they biuld the best...
