OK so first today here in the Denver area it was a beautiful day temp right at 40 and Sunnnnny So I took the cover off my 250SDA. Was great wife and I sat on the rear deck sipped a bit of wine.
Now the Questions The boats new to us. 3wks. I looked in under the sink in the Head and sure enough there is a valve and Macarator (MS) so I see a swith in the head area I hit it it runs i turn it off. Then Im up at the Helm looking and cleaning all the dash and gauges and switches.
There is a switch that say In/out which when I turn it on I here a pump what is it for? Its not Trim or Tilt I mean the head is a mounted Port a potty basically so I dont no what the Macerator is for never owned one but Im told it flushes the byproduces after mushing them up real good. I never heard of on on a port a potty

Any words of wisdom

did someone take out the pumpout head?

As far as I know its all original
See now I have no idea what that is lol but Im learning as much as I can fast

As far as the head/pump out/macerator.... A Vacu Flush may have been optional on the boat. Check your manuals or download them from Sea Ray.

In / Out.... You hear a "pump"? Could it be a motor? Any chance the boat came with a windlass?

See thats the thingit has a portapot you have to take the top half of and fill with water then a waste tang is the bottom half. you push a hand pump to add water to the toilet then pulla leaver to flush it into the tank. It then has a tube off the back that goes to the outside waste port to be sucked out. I will post pics tomorrow.

Ther is no Windlas on the boat. The in/out switch Helm turns on a motor or pump under the Head Im thinking.

I have all the original paper work no mention of aMacerator. No seal on the valve either. 2 outside through the Hull drains one small the other about 1" to 1" 1/2

did you look under the steps going to the cabin? It could be a pressure water pump ,or a shower sump.mine has two pressure water pumps operated from the helm one for washdown and one for galley and bath.the switch in the head should be for the shower sump though.

Does the Shower sump run through aMacerator.
that brings me to 2 more questions now How do the steps come up and right at the base there is a 8"x 2' ish cross section with a stainless pull handle which I cant seem to pull up Does that open

Chris

the shower sump is a plastic box with a sea strainer Usually inside of it,it should pump directly out the side of your boat as this is grey water not black water(black water being what you flush down the head).if this pump isnt working and you take a shower the floor will flood. Those steps will come up,i just dont know how on your boat .

Congrats on your new (old boat) I have a 1988 268 sundancer and that switch on mine runs the bilge pump for the shower drain. You will find with time that you will learn more and more about what and where everything is. The macerator deal does stump me. I am getting sick of the Mile High weather lately I am so ready for warmer weather and getting out on the water.

Good morning. I have a 1987 268 sundancer with a porto-potti. I added a macerator to mine. I located it under the bathroom vanity, and it disharges right out the side of the hull. It has a y valve and overboard discharge switch. The shower sump on these boats is not under the stairs, it is under the aft center section of the aft cabin. If you lift up the hatch, you will find that all of the gray water including the shower, dumps into this sealed off bilge area. It will have a small bilge pump and an automatic float switch and a dash mounted switch, marked step down pump.

I have the same set up as 88dancer300. The macerater sucks the waste out of the portapotty looking head, grinds it up and spits it out a through hull on the starboard side. The shower drains into the bilge area in the center of the aft cabin. There is a switch on the dash that is marked step down pump, that operates the foward bilge pump manually. It also activates from a float switch connected directly to the battery.

As described above, you have a Y-valve. A Y-valve allows you to either pump the waste into your holding tank OR pump it overboard, which is illegal inside of 3 miles off the coast. If you are boarded by the Coast Guard, they like to see the Y zip tied in the CLOSED position so that there is no possibility of accidental "dumping."

If you climb down into the bilge and look around you'll find the pump that you're hearing. It's going to be located near the holding tank and near a through-hull fitting with a seacock.

Hey Everyone I just wanted to say Thanks so very much. I am always amazed how gracious and helpful everyone is on CSR.
I have owned a few boats but none have been SeaRay and none have had a closed bows.
Thanks again for everything.
