I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what this indicator is? I purchased my Sea Ray last year and have no idea what this is and cannot find it in any of the Sea Ray or Mercruiser manuals.

Thanks!

What kind of boat do you have? My guess is that it is your indicator light for you halon or fire suppression system. Green good red bad

I can't remember the name for the system but I believe it is the test button for the active anti-corrosion system that came on some boats. I had one on my 270.

Post up your boat info, and that way others can chime in with specifics...

Oh noooo!!!! The dreaded red button. DO NOT PRESS THE RED BUTTON.

You bought this boat from a single guy, didn't you? That is the "bad date ejector" push the button and all of the females on board will get tossed overboard. Great option for pulling up to your favorite dock bar when there is a bikini contest under way...

Looks like a Dharma button. Just remember to push it every 108 minutes.

Looks like the History Eraser button to me. Do NOT press it because we wont remember what your question was!

But seriously, specifics about your boat might help figure it out. My first guess would be fire suppression indicator and deployment button. Just a guess though.

The green button raises the automated main sail. The red button retracts it.

If that’s not correct, it would help is you gave us some clue about your boat, model & year.

Hey, I think I like Groucho's explanation the best!

Sorry for not listing more info, the boat is a 1987 250 Sundancer with a 454 Magnum.

I was doing a little more research based on a reply from Pakmule and found a manual for the Mercathode system which is installed on my boat. It seems that they have a monitor panel that you can install as an option to test the system to ensure it is operating properly to save you from having to do it the difficult way with one lead from a multimeter hooked to the controller on the inside of the boat and the other lead in the water. You just press the red button and if the system is operating properly you get the green light.

Thanks again for all your responses and help with this!

I will be on the water this weekend so I will get some shots of the boat so I can add an avatar with my boats info.
