Question on batteries and charging

That is certainly interesting, all my documentation tells me to always have the switch on " Both" when the engine is running...

So with my boat covered and parked outside behind my garage, is my best bet for when I do want to maintain a charge over the offseason to just take both batteries out of the boat, and use two individual chargers - one for each battery? During the boating season, just leave the switch set to " Off" when it is parked and not worry with it?

Sorry, as you can tell I can sometimes confuse easily ...

Dennis is spot on when he says to alternate the battery switch when running... the single alternator is much more efficient on one battery at a time.
As far as winter storage, where you live, I would permanently mount two tenders in the boat... one for each battery, for the put-up months.

Ok thanks Jim, I will be sure and get a couple of tenders before the end of the season for me this year. Since I will be having the dealer de-winterize here before long hopefully, I am just going to leave it as is with the switch in the Off position.

Now there's some money you can save... There is nothing to that... make sure the battery(s) are charged, ensure all of the engine plugs are in (little blue plastic wing nuts), start it on a garden hose with muffs in the driveway, put the transom plug in, and dump it in the water. You can do it!

Thanks for the tip, did not realize that was all there was to that - however since he winterized it, he is going to de-winterize it for me at no cost as I understand it, and since it is brand new think I will go ahead and let him do this ( while I watch), just to make sure things are running properly.

Can't argue with that!
