I am restoring my boat that I picked up last year its a 1987 Sea Ray cuddy cabin 230
Engines
350 Chevy Mercury out drive
I just finished mounting my pulpit on my 87 cuddy cabin SR 23ft. I am getting 100 ft of rope and 15ft of chain for my rode (lewmar). I use my boat for fishing quite a bit on the clearwater river in Idaho. The water is not swift but a pretty good current 10to 20 ft deep. I am looking at anchors trying to find the right one to fit under my pulpit and to hold me in the current I was using a 22 lb anchor but it does not fit my design of my pulpit. Does anyone out there use a danford in a river part of the river is rocky some sand. Tried a friend of mine's danford and it did not hold me, it was 8 lbs. My boat is about 3500 lbs dry. I was thinking about ordering a 15lb danford but I have heard they do not hold up to well on rocks so I would like some idea's on this subject. My roller goes under the nose of my pulpit. Thanks in advance

A 15 lb anchor is heavy enough but DanforTH may not be best for you.

Here is a page from WM on anchoring. It reminds us to pay special attention to your waters bottom. Matching your rode & anchor's weight to the size of the boat is important. But not as important as the bottom type. They also post a series of videos, that I found very informative, one of which is on anchoring. Hope this helps...
