Question about Tybee Island/Savannah

I am looking to gain some more confidence in using my new to me 400DB so I am planning a short (very short) offshore ride to check out offshore boating. I plan to come out of the ICW at Port Royal sound through its marked channel and then ride down to the channel into the Savannah River. Is there anywhere along the Tybee Island area where I should stop for a day/night and enjoy whatever the local fun spots are? If not, I'll just continue on to the ICW and loop back home to Port Royal Landing Marina that way.

Also, I am open to going a little further south offshore, just wouldn't know where else would be a good spot to loop back into the ICW. So if you have better ideas than my original plan, I would be glad to hear them. Thanks.

Nothing to see along Tybee. Only over night would be along Daufuski.

Dock mate today suggested Delegal Marina further south. Ever been there?

Delegal Marina is a part of a private community, Skidaway Island. It is nice, but not sure they take transients without a member allowing you to use the marina. There are nice, remote places to swing on the hook all around the barrier islands.

Have you considered running up to Charleston? Lots of Marinas and things to do up there. Btw, we are in the same Marina, i'm on A dock, green 175 Seville BR.

Bravo HiPsi. I am at the very end of B Dock. Yes, Charleston is on the list.

Savannah is great, but not really a friendly boating town. Unless you go to a marina and drive around to see town. If that is what you want to do, then by all means, come on down! We make a yearly trip up to Charleston and love it. In my opinion, many more boating friendly options. Now you could call the Westin and book a slip there. Then you will have many choices downtown. Of course Harbor Town in HHI is always very nice.
