Question about trailer

The 3rd attachment on the winch post isn't necessary but I have one on mine just for insurance. If you want to add one find the length you need and check your local hardware store or if not try McMaster-Carr.

And I agree, I would not trust those eye hooks. For now you could wrap the rachet strap around the frame rail or something but try to find or have made some type of hook or eyelet to attach. I can get pics of mine tomorrow if you'd like

No, you do not need a third attachment at the winch post. Instead of drilling the flange, drill the web (the vertical part of the I-beam) about center and minimum 3/4" from the end. Put the hook through that hole.
I agree the vertical part of the I beam is a good place. I went to 3 dealers for a galvanized tie down bracket and can't find the at all. While I was there they had a similar I beam trailer with a hole on the top horizontal part to ratchet to.
Which would be better in the middle vertical part or the horizontal top? Here is a pic of the one at the bot dealer.. they have the hole on the outside I was thinking inside would be better???

The web is a very strong part of the frame but a hole drilled well back on the flange should be just fine. Be careful bolting galvanized metal against aluminum. It's a set-up for galvanic corrosion.

Ok I won't worry about trying to source the mounting tab then. I'll drill the hole big enough for the ratchet hook. Thank you

So, now that we've pretty much covered what you should do, here's what you shouldn't do:

These " towing fails" are instructive. I witnessed a truck towing a 20 foot boat in Duncan. The rig came over a hill at only 60 kph when a car pulled out from a side road in front of him. Emergency braking caused this poorly secured boat to ride straight over the winch post and it landed on the cab of the truck. No injuries but that event spoiled a day of boating for the truck driver.

Can't thank you guys enough.
Got the boat it's in the trailer!!! Do the bunks look aligned properly? The boat is sitting level.
Everyone here is awesome. Couldn't have done it without you!!
