I have 85 260 da and next to water pump switch is a switch marked step down pump that has the fuse pulled out. Can somebody tell me were this pump is and its use. Thanks john.

In the cabin under a little panel just forward of the aft cabin. I had to remove 2 screws and one little piece of wood that holds up the little cushion in the front and the panel came right out. I just replaced mine yesterday. Very easy job.

There is a little pocket down there that the pump sits in. On mine it's just in case you happen to get water in the cabin. If you have a shower it might serve an additional purpose. On mine it goes out a thru hull on the stbd side just aft of the thru hull fitting for the sink. It's a good idea to make sure it works just in case. My original one was a 400 GPH and I replaced it with a 500 GPH since they required the same size fuse.

On a previously owned 268, the shower drained into that sump, which activated the pump via a float switch, which pumped the water out through a hose to the port side fitting near the stern. Hope the hose is not the problem since it seemed to snake through a foam filled void before showing up in the engine room.

Hey thanks for info. Been away for a wk. now back playing with toys in 100 degree heat. John
