Question about onboard TV's in winter

Unfortunatly some of us live in a climate where our season comes to an abrupt end about now - ours ended Friday with haul out.
So I am now in the process of winterizing and wrapping her up for 6 months (except the main engines that the yard is looking after.

This spring I installed 2 LCD TV's on board and am wondering if there is an issue with leaving them on board during the winter deep freeze - certainly well below zero at times.

The TV's are a bit of a chore to remove and I was thinking about all those new boats with built-in LCD's, Surely the owners are not taking on epic dis-assembly to drag them home fo rthe winter......:huh:.

Wondering what others do out there.

Two years now and no trouble with my 19" LCD. I think many GPS units and other electronics have LCD screens and they are in vehicles in cold climates with no trouble I have heard of.

i agree with quint4 just think they load them things into freezing trailers and ship them all over who knows how long they sit in there before getting unloaded.

Quint 4 - that's reasuring if you have 2 years with no issue.
Yea, I was kind of leaning in the direction that they shoudl be OK. I think the issue would be trying to power them up when super cold but I don't plan on watching TV on board on the hard under the shrink wrap in January......

Yeah, would not power up until good and thawed for sure.

Most LCD manufacturers specify a storage range down to -20C. Operating lower limit is 0 C. Best to check with the spec given by the manufacturer.

Your manual will tell you operating and storage temps. I think my Samsung is around min 45 F for operating and something like -5 F for storage. Don't quote me on that though.

The only issue with electronics is moisture or condensation. Just be sure that all is stabilized in the spring and you will be OK.
