I'm considering putting quad props on my '87 268 Sundancer. I'm in Utah and run at 5 to 6 K elevation. I currently have stainless 17 pitch Mirage (twins) on her right now. I understand that quads will cut your top end but will decrease the time to plane. I also understand quads help in that they will require less throttle to maintain plane. Am I hearing this correctly and should I make this switch?

Same thought here, Jim. The way you have this worded, using the term "quad" sounds like you're considering changing the drives to Bravo 3's - each with two, counter-rotating props. YES! Those would make a WORLD of difference!

But that's a huge investment and I'm going to assume you mean 4-bladed props (better term to use)?

Generally, yes, you are correct. It won't be night and day like the B3's, but they will help. What pitch you go with may depend on what your current performance is - top speed and WOT Max RPM.

Do you use your trim tabs?
