This started in 2014 with Russia supplying troops to the rebels in two Ukraine provinces. The rebels were losing so in late 2017 Russia sent 30,000 troops into the Ukraine.

It isn't just hitting the news its been there for years. Putin finally sent troops in under the Russian flag rather than soldiers not in Russian uniforms.
