Put In Bay, OH

Anyone here belong to any boat clubs on the Island?

Crews Nest, but that's really more of a private marina that has found a way to charge people to be customers than it is a "club".

The PIB Yacht Club is an actual ILYA-membership club.

I was actually just wondering if anyone could help me get in the Crews nest for a weekend. I didnt want to join just hopeing for a hook up....

ah. that's possible, but it can be tricky. They won't guarantee guest-of-member dockage. The dockmaster is a great kid and does his best to accommodate guests when possible, but he obviously has to ensure all members get dibs over guests. That could throw a wrench in your trip-planning, because you may not get a thumbs-up until friday of any given wkd.

On slow wkds, bad forecast for example, I've had guests get a dock. On normal/busy wkds, they'll raft guests to us.

The rafting policy also has had some flex. They say they can only allow 2-deep, but we've been 3-deep on a few occasions.

I've been able to go there during the week, but never on a week end. RollerCoastr is right, they are Great people....

well doesnt look like this trip is going to work out for me. I guess it was to last minute, my wife refuses to stay at the public docks and have to raft up to 4 boats. the other marinas are all full too....:(

Have you asked if there are any mooring balls available?
I think the Boardwalk marina rents them out

How about the State Park Marina on Middle Bass and then taking the Sonny S back and forth? The State Park Marina is brand new. Google Middle Bass State Park. In some ways that's better than being on South Bass.

I didn't realize that you were shooting for the holiday wkd. I'm afraid you're right - the chances aren't good.

That's a good suggestion.

Middle Bass is full as well. YOu can call and see if the get any cancelattions but as of yesterday they did not have anything.

Not a bad option - the Sonny B makes it easy and the MBI docks are really well done. (but they're dragging their feet on the rest of the infrastructure and amenities)

If I'm at PIB, I'll drop you a note asap if I can get you a dock.

I too will be at the bay. E8 Crew's Nest. Black hulled 44 DA. C.C. Rider.
