Hey, I'm a new owner of 1999 Sea Ray 330 and I was wondering what circuits / engines / equipment are on the different batteries. Two of the batteries can be accessed through the bench seat behind the helm and the other two are in the port bilge just ahead of the water heater.

The boat has a 4.5 kw Westerbeke generator, would one of the batteries be dedicated to just the genny?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

My guess:
1) - Generator starting
2) – Start one engine with a on or off switch somewhere
3+4) – Two shared for starting the other engine + house with a 1,2,both or none switch somewhere

You may have a emergency cross connection between 2 and 3+4. We have a emergency cross connection button at the helm.

This was a transition year for Sea Ray, in which they produced both the 330DA and the 340DA. I don't think the manual is available for this model online, so call SR Customer Service and talk to a real person. They will email you the manual, parts list, and the original info on your boat. Yes, there is a dedicated battery for the genset, and probably one for each engine, and one for the house needs. Great boat...I spent a lot of time on one of these with a friend.

Go to Sea Ray.com and get a copy of the Owbers Manual it will tell you all you need to do. There are user manulas out there for the model you are talking about.

Presentation: Yes, there is a crossover switch that activates a solenoid in the bilge.

SouthPaw: Good idea, I'll give Sea Ray a call in the morning.

The 2004 - 2008 340 is as follows: 2 port batteries for house and port engine. 2 stbd batteries for stbd engine and electronics which are on when engines are operating. No dedicated generator battery. You can join the two banks with the emergency start switch at the helm.

Once, before we replaced our batteries, they were all too dead to start an engine. So, I held the emergency switch at the helm while my wife started the genny down below - just barely. We used the genny to charge the batteries.

Note: If you ever get stuck, turn off blower immediately before attempting to start an engine for extra cranking amps, then turn it back on.

Until recently, after about 6 months of owning my boat, I thought I had 4 batteries as well. Mine is close to your year model and size. Might be completely different, but..

I found a fifth battery behind the genny stuck down in between the stringers. This is the genny battery on my boat.

What I am not sure is if the inverter charges this battery or only the genny charges it.

Good idea. I will have to remember that when we get a 320.

Hi - I have been redoing my batteries this summer and on my 330 DA the configuration is as follows - the two batteries in the engine room on the floor are the house batteries (electronics + cabin) as well as port engine and the two accessed under the rear seat are the starboard engine and the generator. This normally will allow you to start the gen even if you run the house batteries flat. Hope this helps.

Correct! The port battery under the seat is for the starboard engine and the starboard battery powers the generator. The "Emergency Start" switch on the helm parallels the port engine battery and the starboard engine battery to facility an engine start when a battery is discharged.

Because the port battery bank powers the house loads, including the helm, if the port batteries are removed or fail, opening the engine room hatch can be a problem. A wire pigtail having ring terminals to be connected to a battery and a cigar lighter plug on the other end allows a battery to be connect to the helm's lighter socket. This will supply enough power to raise the hatch.

Best regards,
Frank

Thanks for all of the info, it is appreciated.

@Uplate: I doubt I have a fifth battery under the genny, but I'll be sure to look very closely this weekend.

Hello everyone. i am located in central suffolk county , long island , ny. I was wondering if anyone with a 96-99 330 dancer was local? I broke my port bilge vent cover Labor day. i found a plastic guy in Bayport who can make a vacuum mold if he has an existing one. He's going to inquire about a mirror image one from his mold guy as 1/3 of my port one is missing. Was wondering if anyone could loan/rent me one of thiers so I can get a mold made? I promise i wont leave town with it. i've searched the country for one of these to no avail and posted in the used parts here also with no luck. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
