Been six years since I've had a boat (longest stint since I was 14) and am settling on a new 330 tomorrow. I'm buying it through Clark's Landing on Kent Island. Anyone had good / bad experiences with them?

I have bought two boats from Clark's Landing 190 Sundeck and then a 240 Sundeck and my experiences have been positive. I bought from Barrie.

I used them on some warranty work but luckily nothing else since I try to do my own work based upon the great info on this forum.

Went on one on thier sponsored trips and had a good time!

Thanks! We were actually looking at a 2007 320 but the 330 has more room and we (think) we got a good deal on the new 330.

Nice to hear about your good experiences. So far everything is going well. I did find out today that settlement might be pushed back because they found a kinked steering cable that needs to be replaced.

We'll be keeping our boat at Wells Marina (next to the Hilton Garden Inn - on Kent Island), at least for the rest of this season. They have floating docks and you can rent for a partial season.

The name is Roe Boat II (play on our last name). Hopefully we'll get to meet a few CSRs before the season is over.

I have this boat and am trading it for a new 44. It is a nice boat.

Noticed you "downsized".
Interesting switch from a MY to a smaller express. I'd bet the fuel bills for the Silverton were downright ugly.

Congrats on the new purchase. Enjoy!

Big disappointment. The dealer didn't get the new steering cable in time to get it installed and get us on the water this weekend. Looks like we won't be settling on the boat until next weekend. Hope the weather holds out.

Downsizing was an easy decision. Although we loved the 40' Silverton Aft Cabin, it was just too big for the 2 of us. We also spent more time cleaning and repairing than we did actually enjoying it. We decided that for us, newer and smaller was better than bigger and older.

I thought the Silverton was bad on gas (30 gals an hour cruising) until I went out on the 330 with my dealer. Wide open we were burning 60 gallons an hour! Even a cruising speed (3200 rpm), we were burning something like 40 GAH. More gas but we got where we were going a lot faster!

Hi Bill,

Sorry to hear about the cable- never fails.

We bought our 2008 330 last summer. They had it too low as they were lifting it on the trailer for delivery, and the port prop caught the side of the trailer. Wham. No delivery that day. They did work hard and were able to deliver within 48 hours, but what a let down. We were on the way to the marina when the call came in.

You should find the 330 to be a great buy. A perfect size for two people. Loads of room and a great running/looking boat. Ours was showroom ready with both bow and stern thrusters so my 9 year old can almost dock it. She does like to gulp gas, but as you say, you can get up and go if you need to. We run in some of the most beautiful waterways the world has to offer here in the 1000 Islands region, so most of our day is spent running low rpms and just breathing in the view. When we do need to get home, we find she sits up really nice at about 3500rpm, but I am drinking a fair bit of fuel at this point. With a full load of fuel and water, plus the normal gear, we can trim out to a top speed of 42mph. Pretty impressive for a 15,000lb boat I feel.

Just curious, did you look at used 330's? There seem to be tons available that are nearly new. The intersting note is that I have yet to find one at or below the price we paid last summer in Canadian funds. Most of these US listings are still well above our purchase price, even if I factor in a 25-30% discount from posted pricing. Our boat was brand new, never splashed and fully loaded. (We almost think they made a mistake on the selling price.)

Enjoy the new boat!

:grin:Sounds like the Thousand Island region is gorgous!

We thought the same thing about the price. We checked around quite a bit and found that we couldn't buy a late model used boat for what we could buy the new one for (lots of dealer / factory incentives - along with some negotiations). Like you, we thought the dealer had to be making a mistake on the price. I guess it is a good time to buy new.

We have a firm setttlement this Friday (assuming they don't knock the props off)

The boat will be splashed for the first time this week. We also have both bow and stern thrusters (I've never had either before) and was wondering how well they really work.

I'll let you know how things work out.

Congrats on the new boat. My dock neighboor has a 330 with Black Hull and it is a beautiful boat. Only downside is that the black hull seems to require some additional attention to keep looking new.

With those dual 8.1's he certainly blows my canvas off!

8.1's do use 30 gph at WOT, from my experience. 40 GPH for cruise seems high. Most people report 30, but I see around 32 at 3350, and about 22 knots (in a 340). Glad to see two things: People buying new boats. People getting good deals.
