Took boat to Gulf Marine Ways Ft Myers Beach for haul out
Shut everything down clean up the cabin fridge
Didn’t want water melting all over my carpet so was scraping ice in freezer and punctured the freezer plate
Freon went everywhere
So what’s my options
Any hope on repair / replace freezing plate
Or is it all toast
Ugh

Was it the original Norcold? Puncturing the evaporator plate is pretty much the kiss of death. I don't think you can weld them, and any repair is usually short lived in my experience. I tried charging my cockpit fridge to extend the season, but it lasted about 3 months. I finally bit the bullet and replaced it with an Isotherm. Happy I did. My wallet...not so much...

I did exactly the same thing on my 410da many years ago. Norcold sold the plate back then, but it was the entire sealed system and I believe the compressor too. Had to pull the entire unit out onto the salon floor and replace everything from behind. It wasn’t too bad as a DIY project, and to this day the unit works great.

If its the original DE461, most parts are discontinued. And by the time you buy that your 1/2 way to a new fridge.

I keep a list of possible replacements as its on the list to be updated.

On my list

IsoTherm Inox 195
NovaCool RFU9200 (this is a twin compressor model)
Vitrafrigo DP2600
Norcold DE0061

That exact scenario is what prompted me to replace my old Norcold. Given that the old one lasted for ~18 years, I went ahead and replaced it with a new Norcold.

Ditto. Did the same thing a few years ago. Replaced with a vitrifrigo. Larger (deeper) inside than norcold, but same height and width, and has a light.

Getting a quote on a direct replacement on the
Vitrifrigo unit... availability is the tuffy

I replaced my Vitrifrigo galley fridge late last fall when all of the supply chain news started coming out. I called my local distributor here on the west coast and was told everything was back ordered for 6-7 months. I ended up calling almost every distributor in the USA and found that most of the Midwest dealers had stock on hand. I ended up having it shipped to the West coast in just a few days. I would suggest calling everyone on this list if you can't find it locally.

Not much. On my 450EB there are cabinet doors that cover the fridge in the galley. I removed both doors and I believe there was a trim plate on the top and bottom and that was it.
